Our town does something roughly once a month called Covidchella. Tons of musicians jamming in front of houses on every block.
Walking out the front door, you just hear a cacophony of music drifting through the air. It is awesome. ❤️
It’s been awhile. It feels good. And weird. Good and weird.
In the early 2000’s, one of my favorite punk bands was Tsunami Bomb. I followed them up and down the West Coast, going to a ton of shows and meeting a lot of cool people in the process. They went on hiatus in 2005. In 2009, the had a reunion show up here in the Bay Area, so I went and took a number of photos.
(Interestingly, they reformed again in 2015 with a slightly different lineup… and I sadly haven’t gone to see them live yet).
Anyway, they recently had an Instagram post celebrating their anniversary and posted one of my photos. Nice!
It was a pretty awesome show. A few more photos…
Saw them tonight at the UC Theater in Berkeley. They rank up there as one of my favorite bands of all time.
This past Friday, we saw Beats Antique play at the Fox Theater in Oakland.
In fact, I’ve written about them before, 2 years ago! It was a fantastic show — featuring a combination of electronic / world music and belly dancing.
Here are few photos from around Fox Theater before the show (taken with iPhone 4 and Hipstamatic).
Last night, we checked out Beats Antique (also on Last.fm) at the Independent. They’re a pretty awesome fusion of electronic music with a middle eastern bent. Pretty awesome stuff! I love this sort of ambient music as it makes perfect background music for working and such!
They also feature belly dancers during their live performances, who move in sync to their music. Here is a video recorded from the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco last year.
Last night, I went to my first punk rock show in years to see one of my all time favorite bands: Hot Water Music. The broke up in 2006 but recently announced a reunion tour. As always, they brought the house down and it was nice to welcome them back to San Francisco.
You can view more photos of the show on my flickr account as well.
Doing some house cleaning, figured I’d post some photos from the Angie Mattson show at the Hotel Utah in San Francisco on December 13th.
Check out some of her music on MySpace or iTunes.
